Amy Sorel Profile
Amy is a character in the Soul series of fighting games. She made her first appearance in Soulcalibur II in the opening video sequence. She then appeared as a playable bonus character for Soulcalibur III with a moveset identical to the rapier discipline used by custom characters. In Soulcalibur III: Arcade Edition, she is included as one of the main characters. Later in Soulcalibur IV, Amy became a main unlockable character with her own unique fighting style though it is shared with Scheherazade, one of the bonus characters. It is confirmed that she will return in the spin-off sequel, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny.
In contrast to Talim, a young beautiful female character of similar stature. Even though she looks very innocent, Amy behaves much more ruthlessly probably due to the tragic loss of her parents and harsh childhood in poverty. She does not show remorse in her quick and deep slashes nor holds back her disdain toward her opponent. Her trademark Gothic lolita outfit matches her cold demeanor and pessimism. Raphael appears to be the only one that she cares about in the world. As gratitude for saving his life, he trained her to be a formidable wielder of the rapier. Amy makes a much more graceful execution of her strikes than Raphael. The two only have each other to trust in this world, so they share an extremely close relationship.
What lies in her soul is Loyalty.
In Soulcalibur II, Amy was a poor orphan who lived on the streets of Rouen. Her parents died of a plague that had spread across all of Europe during this time period. She had no other family to go to after the loss of her parents. One day she came across a man named Raphael Sorel, who was being chased by the local authorities. She hid Raphael from the soldiers who were pursuing him; though only in spite of the soldiers, who ran her poverty stricken town. As Raphael had never owed his life to anyone before, he felt he must protect and repay her. He felt something he never had before for Amy, so he took her in to his home and looked after her as his own daughter, to repay her for the kindness she had shown to him.
One day, Raphael returned from a vicious battle with Nightmare. Raphael collapsed before Amy's eyes and she nursed him back to health. Though the battle with Nightmare had been lost, strangely however the evil knight spared him. But wounded by Soul Edge, he had become infected by the evil seed, and by handling his blood, she was also infected. Their skin turned pale and their eyes shone red. They felt weak and sluggish by day, and a powerful thirst by night. Amy had always found it hard to open her heart to the world, but now she couldn't even try because she was too different from everyone else. She was no longer human. She went with Raphael to the castle he bought in Romania. She sat in a dim room seeing the torches and troops gathering there. Raphael left, saying he will be out for a while. He took care of the troops and the noises ceased. They eventually returned, but he didn't. He had left her. And now the noises and light spread violently in the world he made, bringing it to ruins. She stood up and went to the exit. She was bound to the words from those days and then she smiled. For it was her who must protect this world that Raphael created.
In Soulcalibur IV, peace had been restored at the castle, but Raphael did not return. Amy was fully aware that he was doing all of this for her sake. He wanted her to be happy. But Amy could not help but worry about her father. She wondered if he was still searching for Soul Edge. And if he was, how long will it take him to do so? Locking her feelings away where no one can find it, Amy leaves the castle.
In the Gauntlet mode of Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, she first appears on Chapter 9-1, where she sends out her identical dolls to attack the player and company while they try to find her. She appears as herself on Chapter 9-3, where she fights the player herself.
